ABOUT NETWALK EVENTS

You will be able to combine building and deepening relationships with exercise in a natural environment and discover or even re-discover stunning views right on our doorstep. Places we have been restricted from visiting or too busy to visit. Away from digital devices with uninterrupted time to physically reconnect, chat, think, discuss, reflect – whilst really getting to know each other.

EVENT DETAILS:

LOCATION; Lancrigg, near Grasmere, LA22 9QN

DISTANCE; 7.5km, 4.5 miles approx with shortcut options

WALKING TIME; 2 hours

START TIME; 2pm

LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY; 2 out of 5

About 30 minutes drive from Kendal, we would meet at the The Lancrigg Hotel, near Grasmere. The Lancrigg is a beautiful Lake District country house hotel set in 30 acres of mature gardens and woodland. Meet time would be 2pm for a short briefing and chat, ready for a 2.15pm set off. There is the optional opportunity to arrive earlier at 1.30pm for a tea or coffee in the outside grounds. Parking is available at the venue.

The 7.5km walk is a Lakeland classic loop following fell track and path up to, then around Easedale tarn, the Heart of the Lake District. We would keep together as one group for at least the first third after which there would be the option for a slower group to cut off to shorten the route if necessary.

We would keep the walk time to two hours, slightly shortening it en route if necessary. Back at The Lancrigg there would be another drink opportunity after which participants could either depart or remain for further refreshment and conversations.

KIT REQUIREMENTS

  • Suitable footwear, eg walking shoes or boots
  • Waterproof jacket and over-trousers. Basic lightweight ones are great. We have limited spares if required on request (quarantined before and after event for COVID).
  • Small lightweight back pack to pop your waterproofs in.

Wear suitable clothing, eg no jeans. If you think it is appropriate for you, you could include a drink, snack, hat and gloves. The kit requirement may change slightly due to weather checks closer to the event. The walk Leaders will carry outdoor 1st aid kits, group shelters and other emergency equipment.

MORE ABOUT NETWALK EVENTS

Spend a morning, afternoon, or full day walking in beautiful countryside with your business colleagues, contacts and clients. You will really build and develop your relationships with them and perhaps learn some new outdoor skills together.

This type of event would send a powerful message about your reputation as it serves to reconnect and re-engage with employees, colleagues and supporters for mental wellbeing as we all emerge from this tumultuous year. The message is about reset and reconnection.

Indoor and more traditional forms of “stand up and mingle” networking events of over a certain size are currently not possible and certainly not an attractive proposition. This will be the case for a considerable period of time.   In more usual times, some found this type of event off putting and would struggle to break into conversations. A NetWalk is a much more relaxed way to make contacts.  A change from online meetings where meeting people from the neck up and it is hard to read the accompanying body language of what someone is saying will also be welcomed.
